James Joyce, David Foster Wallace, Kurt Vonnegut, George Saunders, JRR Tolkien, Margaret Atwood, William Shakespeare, Ursula LeGuin, Mark Twain, Russell Hoban….

Yeah, there are definitely outliers. The Wheel of Time series had a number of made up words. And then there’s Dr. Seuss!

There are many inverse relationships such as this in the world of fiction. The probability that a book will be good also declines with the number of times the words vampire, werewolf and/or ‘fallen angel’ are used.
