A great film this. PPP was fond of employing non-actor locals and portraying the scenery as it was, cinema verite, rendering the ordinary as quite romantic. Ironic humorous morality tales of human foibles. Rarely morbid or dark. He was one of the greatest film makers. He evokes the smell and feel of his scenes. He seemed to thoroughly enjoy shocking the pretentious.
