In this form of the operation, the surgeon would ligate (tie off) the blood vessels rather than cauterising them. But you’re right, this step isn’t shown.

Wait is this how you actually do it? I don’t want to be stuck in a situation where I have to cut my friend’s arm off and I end up butterfly cutting their arm as they bleed to death…
