Gorgeous selection! I love Manet’s work and they are much more intense in person. I was amazed at the difference when I saw them in Paris.

Tarring of the boat recalls Suttree and his means. A great painting.

That’s right. Suttree borrowed some tar from the road with an old kitchen knife to seam up his skiff. Any painting that recalls Suttree is a good ‘un.
