I was perplexed and slightly disturbed by this until I scrolled down a little and discovered that it was “based on sketches [the artist] did when he was four.” The explanatory caption (also a link that if followed provides even more elucidation) abruptly changed everything for me. Because I instantly got it — my discontents over the piece’s awkward but mysterious qualities were instantly extinguished.
