2010 was a banner year for the much maligned Detroit duo Insane Clown Posse. They hosted their annual Gathering (with only minimal rock throwing), released their revisionist Western epic, Big Money Rustlas, and even sponsored an inspired toy drive this Christmas. It’s the release of their single “Miracles,” however, that puts them on our “Heroes” list. Pure motherfucking magic. (We wrote about ICP’s problematic place in postmodernity here and here).
Dammit, I like ICP.

I understand that this post might be read ironically, but I genuinely like ICP and their project too — I hope that that comes across in my writings on them.

Yeah, it does. They’re catchy, and so crass and disgusting that it’s pretty difficult to take them serious, and their lyrics aren’t dumb.
I was listening to “Fuck the World” a couple years ago and my two year-old daughter started saying “I say fuck”, and as a parent I’m not sure I want her becoming a jugallette or whatever 10-15 years down the road.
