David Milch and Michael Mann Discuss Their New HBO Show Luck

  1. Sad to see this cancelled so soon…Milch can’t catch a break; I’d like–at least once–for Milch to be given the sort of trajectory and vision that David Simon has been given with The Wire and Treme. He’s now adapting Faulkner for HBO, which I’m sure will be great, but it isn’t original material. I’d ditch HBO and run to FX if I were him. Ask for the Louis CK deal.

  2. I’d say Milch is cursed, but Deadwood and John from Cincinnati are so far out, it’s almost like he’s asking for it…still, I agree—FX might be a good fit (although they canceled Terriers . . .). I’m hoping that the Faulkner “adaptations” are more Milch than Faulkner — I love Faulkner, but I don’t think his work is really translatable.
