Hopper is so effective that I can hear the katydids and smell the moist flesh. That absolute velvet blackness of summer nights.

I am familiar with this detail of “Summer Evening.”
This is a painting about privacy, intimacy and easy conversation.
What I find intersesting is what left out of the painting. Rather telling.

Love, love, love Hopper. My favourite painting, possibly of all paintings, is “Approaching a city”
