3. Reading about Glenn Brown. His creation process is Interesting; if I can use an antiquated term, very ‘Punk Rock’.

   1. But is it art? ;> Or is it like Paris Hilton, famous for being famous? {Porn movie follows} If clothes make the man, then can there be all clothes and no man? Is he blue because he hasn’t popped in too long a time and his eyes filled up to there with a need to ejaculate? He’s repulsive and should be a still for a horror cartoon. Or just a sick joke? Some artists do have a weird sense of humor, and attribute it to symbolism.

      1. The title ‘Sex’, probably refers to Madonna’s book from the ’90’s of the same name. It’s just a mash-up really, stealing from the best and putting a different slant on it.
         Yes it’s Art.

            1. Well it defies an easy or any explanation!
               It encourages debate. (That old chestnut!)
               It gives an insight of sorts into an ‘alien’ mind.
               Accept it on its own terms.

               Anyway, how dare I dare to defend an object that’s not under attack.
               Art is just another label after all.

4. I was repeating an old joke, similar to the old adage, supposedly by some one who is ignorant, but I think differently, ‘I don’t know much about art, but I know what I like’. Having a send up with your enthusiasm. Art and music are difficult to define concisely because there is no true opposite. Since the painting was intentionally created, then I would call it art, not being too much into ‘what is real and what is not’. Having struggled through a reply a number of times, only to have it rejected for some reason, and a drive home through the rain has given me a new sensibility. I am unaware of Brown’s works, except to know that he is a British contemporary who is considered successful. Successful artists, such as are recognized in England, seem to me to drift towards witty cuteness, and I wonder if that is what this painting is. What comes to mind, however, is that it is a blue penis joke, and is a send up, which many an artist is prone to create.

5. This page is continuing to act up and was Sent before I was through and an attempt made to edit the previous comment for clarity and briefness. But it is as it is now. Anyway, I like your comment about the boots. In this case, they should be hip boots.
