Caravaggio captured the theme to perfection in this depiction. The fear on Isaac’s face suggest “child like” innocence (research suggests this a reoccurring theme in religious comparison). The fact that a sheep is next to Isaac shows the sacrifice, how the choice is there to disobey “God”.
