  1. Thank you for introducing me to Donald Barthelme. I read Snow White and Sixty Stories so far and they are among my 2013 favorites as well. New releases are quite impossible for me to get, so it’s really nice you have a list I can relate to.

    1. The fella on top is my Kindle—-I read some of my favorite books this year mostly on the Kindle,actually (including several pictured here, like Against the Day and Anti Lebanon) and some I don’t have physical versions of (like some by Thomas Bernhard).

  2. Thanks to you I too read Mutis’ Maqroll collection, which is not only one of my favourite books I read this year but one of my favourites of all time.

    1. The Mutis is great! His death this year went sadly underremarked upon. Maybe Maqroll will eventually get the same revival that LRB’s John Williams’s STONER received this year.
