I’ve had a difficult time with Pound. He seems like a poet who constantly pushes the reader away in order to create space for his ideas and intellect to gestate. He has a profound arrogance? He’s profound in his arrogance? It’s as if he dares the reader to abandon him because of his difficulty. The older I get, the more I understand the defiant and proud style.
