I don’t get why people like this artist. Can you explain? His people look like they’ve been blown up with a bicycle pump. Why is that appealing?

That’s kind of Botero’s whole thing—just swelling up the figure out of proportion. Don’t know that much about his intention, but I sense loving parody in his work.

thanks. I like looking at beautiful things or things that are brilliantly grotesque. Botero misses on both counts but, hey, that’s what makes yacht races.
