When I look at the picture I can feel the link between nature and the urban setting where people usually drown in their own pursuit to riches. To me the open book represents knowledge, much like material wealth that is limitless and the naked woman lying on the table seems to be tired, perhaps tired of pursuing never ending knowledge/wealth. The sexuality in this painting enhanced the theme. At least that’s what I think. This is a good painting.
