What a monstrous species humans would be without children to civilize them. Little Barbarians that they are. One should forgive children for being children, but offer no such refuge for adults. Old Maurice did well (with a wink in his eye?) when he claimed that he didn’t care for children and that his books weren’t for kids. My guess is that children made him nervous.
